Museum of Russian Icons Community Scholarship

Museum Founder Gordon B. Lankton established his landmark museum in the town of Clinton with the goal of giving back to the community, and also to introduce the town of Clinton to the world. In the spirit of his generosity, the Museum of Russian Icons is offering one $1,000 scholarship for a Clinton High School senior in good academic standing. The student should also be an active member of the Clinton community. Half of the award ($500) will be issued at graduation, and the remaining $500 will be issued after successful completion of their first semester (must maintain 3.0 GPA, regardless of major). Scholarship requirements are listed below.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Pursuing a degree in Arts and Humanities or humanistic Social Sciences
  • Active in the Clinton community

Application Requirements:

  • Completed Application Form
  • Completed Essay
  • Two letters of Recommendation
  • Copy of Official Transcript

Essay

Please submit an essay of 500-1,000 words (typed, double-spaced, 12pt font) that addresses the following:
How do you define community and what does it mean to you? Did you ever respond to the needs and aspirations of your community in creative ways? Citing specific examples, highlight the ways you have contributed to your community through school, work, or an organization such as church.

Recommender Information:

Letters of recommendation should be approximately 300-400 words. The letters should speak to the student’s involvement in school, church, or other community activities, the positive impacts they have made through their involvement.
