The beautiful masterpiece, the opera “Prince Igor” composed by Alexander Borodin, a member of an outstanding group of Russian composers “Mighty Handful”. Opera’s libretto based on the ancient Russian epic “The Lay of Igor’s Campaign”. It described the history of the battle between Rus’ princes led by Prince Igor, and Polovtsian tribes in 1185. Borodin was working on the opera nearly twenty years but left it unfinished. After his death composers Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov finished orchestration and prepared “Prince Igor” for publication and performance in 1890.
