The Russian nesting doll (“matryoshka”) is a traditional symbol of motherhood and family. In this workshop, you’ll learn the matryoshka story and decorate a three-piece wooden nesting doll set using traditional painting techniques and patterns. You can give the doll to your mom on Mother’s Day—or invite her to the workshop to decorate one herself! Instructor Larissa Dyan is a matryoshka collector and longtime Museum Docent. All tools and materials are included, as are Russian drinks and sweets to enjoy during the break. Suitable for children ages 10+ through adults. (Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.)
