Gallery Tour: Glitz & Glitter in Icons

Explore our collection to discover the centuries old tradition of adorning the icons with resplendent ornamentation. Museum Registrar, Laura Garrity-Arquitt, will guide guests to dazzling 16th century Byzantine designs, the opulent oklads inspired by the Baroque period, and the intricate geometric designs of 19th century artists following the Arts and Crafts movement. Laura will also be bringing icons out of storage that are not usually on display.
