Have you always wanted to try your hand at traditional Ukrainian egg decorating, also known as pysanky?

In this workshop, participants will learn to draw on a plain white chicken egg with a special pen, known as a kystka, and melted wax, then color the egg with special dyes. The drawing and dyeing are repeated several times as each layer of the design is applied. All supplies are provided. Participants receive a short history of pysanky, instructions explaining the process, motifs and pictures for design inspiration, an explanation of how to care for the completed eggs, and a container to take the decorated eggs home.

Hanka Robertson, born in Slovenia, learned to make pysanky as a child. She was taught by her mother, who was born and raised in the former Czechoslovakia, where pysanky eggs were an annual Easter tradition.
