3-Day Byzantine Icon Painting Workshop

For adults and teens 13 or older. Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult also taking the class.

In this three-day class, iconographer Christopher Gosey provides personal hands-on technical instruction to guide student to complete their own 7”x 9” icon of the Mother of God/Virgin Mary in the Byzantine tradition. Mr. Gosey will also teach the origins of Byzantine icons and the iconographer’s spiritual preparations for writing an icon. NO drawing or painting experience is required.

Christopher Gosey, founder of the Holy Images icon studio, has been writing icons since 1990, and has extensive experience in Russian, Byzantine, and Ethiopian styles. He taught an Ethiopian icon painting class at the Museum in 2017.
